September is by far the most Mexican month in the whole year, so if you are a big fan of the joyful, colorful and tasteful culture that characterizes our southern neighbor, you definitely need to book a flight to the gorgeous Banderas Bay next month. Let’s find out some of the highlights!
- The famous “El Grito”
Despite what most people think, May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) is not the greatest Mexican party, but September 15th is a blast indeed! “El Grito” means literally “The shout out” and it’s a representation of that famous shout out given by Miguel Hidalgo back in 1810 which started the Independence War, nowadays it indicates that party is on!
2. Party everywhere!
You already know how latin people just love partying and Mexicans are masters, so the night of “El Grito” (September 15th) everybody goes nuts in a good way! Tequila flows here and there and all homes are blessed with amazing dinners and families gather all around the table.
3. Pozole time!
There’s no way you can be proud of knowing about Mexican cuisine if you haven’t tried pozole! No matter where in Mexico you are, all variations of this Aztec delight are awesome! In the Banderas Bay area the traditional pozole may be green, white or red (according to Mexican flag) addressed with a fantastic cucumber sauce. Yummi!
4. Chiles en Nogada
Following the pozole path, Chiles en Nogada also make reference to the Mexican flag but this time instead of being a hot soup, you’ll get a beautiful dish composed of a “chile poblano” stuffed with cheese, meat or mushrooms topped with pomegranate and a creamy white sauce, resulting a marvelous dinner.
5. Tequila Mucho!
A Mexican party wouldn’t be complete without Tequila; been Jalisco the largest producer of this globally famous drink, in Puerto Vallarta you will find great samples which prudently consumed will give you a night to remember and the best of all: No hangover! Just make sure to choose a high quality one.
